How It All Began
In 2020, amid the pandemic, Marta Buigues, a spirited Spanish woman who had lived in Bali since 2009, found herself at a crossroads. The hotel she managed closed, leaving her uncertain about the future.
Faced with uncertainty, Marta turned inward and decided it was time to follow a long-held dream. One day, a friend gave her some discarded leather pieces from a local factory. Inspired, Marta began crafting unique items from the neglected leather with the help of a local tailor who needed support for his family. Encouraged by the positive response, Marta decided to launch her brand, aptly named Singa Betina , which means Lioness.
The Lioness
The lioness symbolizes courage, resilience, and adaptability, mirroring Marta's journey. Choosing "Singa Betina" as our name is a tribute to the enduring spirit within each of us. It's a reminder that no matter the challenges we face, we possess the strength, adaptability, and power to rise above and create something truly extraordinary. Each piece of leather, once destined for the trash, now represented hope and renewal.
Singa Betina is more than a fashion brand; it’s a testament to resilience, creativity, and finding beauty and opportunity even in the darkest times.
